How the Distrito Federal’s sustainable sanitation management plans are influencing the community to act
Keywords:
water shortage, water crisis, Distrito FederalAbstract
The water crisis that Distrito Federal has experienced in recent years caused some modifications in the distribution and consumption of water. This issue goes beyond climatic factors. This research aimed to verify if the projects developed by the Government of Brasília are reaching the community and if their participation before them is being effective, helping the GDF to manage basic sanitation and water problems. The development of the work was by collecting reports on portals of the district government and professional journalistic vehicles to collect the information. The population needed to adapt, creating more sustainable ways of using water to avoid prolonged rationing. The government also needed to adapt, generating new forms of water distribution, reducing water pressure, changing water rater and carrying out constructions. It´s understood that there must be a constant awareness of society regarding the use of water, soon this scenario will be less present in Distrito Federal.
